Scientific Writing Workshop held on 3rd – 4th May 2024. It’s kinda different with previous workshop, because there were 2 type of class. Basic class for 1st – 2nd semester’s students, and advanced class for 3rd – 4th semester’s students.

Guest Lecture by Dr. J.A. (Joeri) Zwerts from Utrecht University has been held on Thursday, March 14th 2024.  This session held 2 hours, start from 1 p.m (WIB). Participants of this activity are students of Doctor and Master in Forestry Science Study Program. Total participants are more than 50 students.

Theme of this lecture is Forest Landscape Connectivity in Central Kalimantan. Background of this lecture is massive development of the city. Developing city with construction sometimes started with land conversion or land opening from forest to non-forest land. It can disrupt ecosystem sustainability. One of negative impact for environment is habitat fragmentation that can effect organism survival in the forest. Forest landscape connectivity is coming with a concept to “bridge” each habitat area, so that each organism habitat is not decrease and negative impact can be reduce. read more

Friday, January 19th 2024 Doctoral in Forestry Science held Guest Lecture. Lectured by Chief Technology Officer Inverto Tech, Cameron Down, this session held ± 2 hours started from 1 pm (WIB). This lecture participated by student of Doctor and Master in Forestry Science Study Program.

Cameron shared his experience in rehabilitating mangrove with drone support. Inverto Tech, the company he leads made a technology to cultivate mangrove seeds by spread it with drone. The seeds has been treated before spread. Treatment also given to soil to prepare the site before seeds spread, so that it successfully cultivated. read more

Dr. Daniel Mendham,Principal Research Scientist of The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Australia came to Faculty of Forestry UGM on December 5th 2023. He shares his experiences in peatland restoration, specifically about his project called Gambut Kita on Kalimantan and Sumatera.

Peatland restoration is important for Indonesia (locally) and worldwide (globally). It needs more sustainable technic to restore peatland. So that, it could be beneficial for local communities, and environment. He said that local communities is a key to a successful restoration, besides technical things that already planned. It needs multi stakeholder strong collaboration, included including communities in restoration planning. As project administrator, we have to understand what peoples (communities) need because they have to execute those plans. If they don’t want to do those plans, the restoration process would be constrained. read more

Faculty of Forestry team that consist of Head of Doctor Forestry Science, Master Forestry Science, and Profesi Insinyur went to Riau on 2023 November, 29th until 30th. We visits 3  agencies which are: P3ES, Arara Abadi, and RAPP. This visitation aims to escalate relationship between Faculty of Forestry UGM and those agencies; and also to promote postgraduate program of Faculty of Forestry UGM.

First, we went to Pusat Pengendalian Pembangunan Ekoregion Sumatera (P3ES) that located in Pekanbaru City. Head of P3ES, Puji Iswari, S.Hut., M.Si. welcomed us warmly. She invited other government agencies and private companies to join our event. There were ± 40 persons who joined this event. read more

Monday, November 27th 2023 Doctor Forestry Science Study Program team (together with Master Forestry Science and Profesi Insinyur Study Program) travelled to Samarinda to promote Postgraduate Study Program of Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of Faculty of Forestry Universitas Gadjah Mada accompanied us.

Promotion Event held 3 times by visitation and gathering. We visited Faculty of Forestry Mulawarman University and Regional Service Center of East Kalimantan. Lecturers and staffs of those institute welcomed us warmly. read more

Postgraduate Graduation on First Period of 2023/2024 held on Wednesday, October 25th 2023. Main activity of this event held on Grha Sabha Pramana at 08.00 until 12.00 WIB. Next activity was faculty graduation at 13.00 – 15.00 WIB. Program Study of Doctor in Forestry Science bring out 3 graduates, which are:

Community services is one of college responsibility called “Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi”. Doctor in Forestry Science Study Program held this event on Saturday, October 14 2023, in Banyumanik Research Center (BRC), Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. Participants of this program were students of Doctor in Forestry Science, both even and odd semester, 2022 intake; and BRC local communities from Dusun Banyumanik and Dusun Wunung. There were few session of this services: vegetative tree propagation; seeds providing; and planting. read more
